A Little Bit About Us

History

The Preston Lawn Bowling Club has a long and proud history as one of the oldest lawn bowling clubs in Ontario. The current club was established in the old town of Preston 100 years ago and is the only club left in Cambridge.

Aim

Our club actively promotes the gentle sport of lawn bowling as a recreational activity for people of all ages and abilities. We strive to maintain a quality facility for the purpose of lawn bowling and its associated activities as part of Cambridge’s culture and heritage

Our Involvement

The Preston LBC is involved in the community. We have hosted a tournament for the Ontario Association of Blind Bowlers. We sponsored a hole in the charity golf tournament run by the Allan Reuter Centre. The club held a fund raiser where toys are collected for the Salvation Army.  A teaching program was offered through the Senior Centres. Junior bowlers have participated in programs. Preston High School has included this venue in their Physical Education program. Numerous groups, such as The Ontario Poetry Society, the Soroptimists, the Cambridge Writers Collective, the Preston Heights Community Association, and members of the Canadian Transplant Association have used the facility and introduced members to the sport.

The club also acts as a venue for Ontario Lawn Bowling Association, District 7, Provincial Playdowns.
